Ancha es Castilla-La Mancha - Valdeverdeja

We get to know in depth the most popular celebration in this town, the "Carnival of the Souls." All sorts of activities take place: jotas are danced, the flag dance is performed, the soldiers' dance is celebrated, there is singing, cooking, and the traditional Lagartera costumes are brought out, among other things. We explore one of Valdeverdeja's main attractions: its interior courtyards. Pureza, Lucía, and Blanca open their homes to us. The "Sixty and Over" group sings for us, performing folk songs accompanied by traditional instruments. We visit the surrounding area to see the beautiful landscapes along the Tagus River, as well as the town's wells and "the cave house." They show us their Corpus Christi traditions, from making the Maypoles to setting up altars. Other notable sites in the municipality include its church and the hermitage, characterized by the crosses located outside. Among the local cuisine, we highlight puches (a type of porridge), gachas (a type of porridge), floretas (a type of fritter), potaje (a hearty stew), and stuffed peppers.
