My experiments with oyster mushrooms using non-sterile cultivation techniques, without heat treatment of the substrate, are based on the work of the renowned mushroom grower Fyodor Fyodorovich Karpov. In this commentary to the video, I want to give you a couple more tips that weren't included in the video... COLD SHOCK A significant drop in air temperature for more than two days is called COLD SHOCK. Natural oyster mushroom varieties without cold shock do not bear fruit; they wait until autumn. Hybrid varieties also love it. An artificial cold shock can be achieved by placing a block overgrown with oyster mushroom mycelium in a cellar or refrigerator. CUT OR UNSCREW...??? The answer is clear: BREAK OFF AND UNSCREW! This applies not only to oyster mushrooms but to other mushrooms as well. You should never cut mushrooms, as the remaining "stump" in the mycelium can rot and become moldy! STERILITY The technique I described is not sterile, but try to maintain sterility...!!! Wash your hands frequently when handling the substrate and use well-washed, clean utensils and containers.
