Widely regarded as the pinnacle of driven shooting in the UK, Bettws Hall in Mid-Wales covers six different estates, all famous in their own right. So many guns dream of shooting here, it’s a bucket list destination, with high birds in the most picturesque setting you’re ever likely to see. During last year’s season we were invited to document what it’s like to be a part of a shoot within these extraordinary grounds. Having found worldwide fame, the group we met were made up of five American couples, who have been visiting Bettws for a few years as part of a European hunting tour. It was clear to see, many regarded this experience as the highlight of their trip, and there’s no wonder! The scenery, the hospitality and sheer quantity of high quality pheasants and partridge were astonishing. A true testament to the work done by the entire team at Bettws. The first of two films was shot at Plas Dinam, a mountainous area with mixed woodland and beautiful steam-centred valleys. It offered a real challenge to the American guns who rallied and really enjoyed their day in the sun amongst the rolling Welsh countryside.
