The Meaning of 2 Corinthians 5:17
2 Corinthians 5:17 is one of the most well-known passages in Paul’s letters to Corinth, and perhaps in the entire Bible: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” In the paragraph of which this verse is a part, Paul does three things: 1. First, he draws out the consequences of the gospel that he has just outlined in the previous verses: “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” 2. Second, he elucidates its content. 3. Third, he describes how it is to be conveyed. This video takes a close look at 2 Corinthians 5:17 and its surrounding context.
