Why Existence?

Absolute nothingness is an impossible foundation for reality because it fails to meet the basic requirements of a metaphysical candidate. The author posits that for a total state of affairs to be a genuine possibility, there must be a determinate contrast between its obtaining and its not obtaining. If such a state is defined as a total absence of all constraints, it becomes too indeterminate to count as a real option; conversely, if it is determinate enough to be a candidate, it already implies minimal formal structures like unity and identity.
