This week my journey around the entire coast of mainland Scotland continues through Easter Ross, Sutherland and into the very beginning of Caithness. What starts as a visit to beautiful Highland towns, beaches and historic landmarks soon becomes something much deeper as I begin to uncover one of the most significant chapters in Scotland's history... The Highland Clearances. Along the way I visit Tarbat Ness Lighthouse, Tain, Dornoch Cathedral, Dornoch Beach, Loch Fleet Nature Reserve, Dunrobin Castle, the Duke of Sutherland Monument, Carn Liath Broch, Highland Wildlife Rescue, Helmsdale, Badbea and Dunbeath Harbour. This episode also includes an emotional visit to Highland Wildlife Rescue where I witness a rescued baby hedgehog arriving for treatment and learn more about the incredible work being carried out by volunteers to protect Scotland's wildlife. From dramatic landscapes and ancient history to powerful stories, local communities and everyday vanlife, this is another unforgettable chapter in my journey around the entire coast of mainland Scotland.
