In this video, we'll take a closer look at possessive pronouns in German: our (unser), your (euer), and their (ihr). These words are very common, but many German learners have difficulty with their forms in different cases. First, we'll review the personal pronouns: wir-uns, ihr-euch, sie-ihnen, and look at how they're used in sentences: Das ist für uns, Ich gehe mit euch spazieren, Ich helfe ihnen. Then we'll move on to possessive pronouns and look at the forms unser, euer, ihr with nouns: unser Vater, unsere Mutter, euer Kind, ihre Kinder. We'll pay special attention to the accusative and dative forms. In the examples, you'll see how the endings change: for a father, for a second child, for their mother, with an unborn child, with an unborn child, with their friends. At the end of the lesson, we'll also look at constructions where the noun is omitted: It's not your husband, but your son.
