In this video, I show you how I work with the NanoVNA. First, I'll test an antenna for its properties and usability. This antenna can't be tuned, nor can the SWR be adjusted. All I have to do is determine the antenna's frequency range and bandwidth. The second antenna is more interesting. The antenna base with its built-in coil has seen several uses over the course of my ownership. Now it's time to return it to its original condition, as a CB radio antenna. I bought a simple 2.5 mm steel wire on eBay. The standard length, of course, has to be shortened accordingly to match the CB radio frequency. I'm using my NanoVNA for this. With the settings I've chosen, it provides me with information about the antenna's impedance, as well as its standing wave ratio (SWR) and the resonant frequency. Depending on the settings, the NanoVNA could also provide me information about image frequencies, if I wanted. All in all, when building an antenna, a NanoVNA is an inexpensive way to quickly obtain information about the behavior of the connected antenna. The NanoVNA has a whole range of other testing mechanisms, which I haven't used yet. The future will show what else can be done with this measuring device. It is definitely more useful than a standing wave meter, which I only use to check the antenna's function shortly before transmission begins.
