Meet Leyb, their grandfather was Anne Frank’s favourite cousin Buddy. That makes Anne their distant cousin. Leyb travels to all the places where Anne Frank has been to figure out what it means to be related to her and what we can learn from history. Come along. Episode 3, Under Nazi Rule: Leyb walks through the Annex on Prinsengracht, Anne’s former hiding place. In the Liberal Jewish synagogue, Leyb speaks with Jewish youth about prejudice and antisemitism and learns more about the project Get to Know Your Neighbours. Leyb also meets two politicians, one Jewish and the other Muslim, who visit schools and engage students in conversation, including about Israel and Palestine. During the occupation Anne’s world became smaller and smaller because of the anti-Jewish measures of the Nazi’s.
