Bakkalcha typically refers to the "Morning Star," symbolizing hope, light, and new beginnings. Bakalcha Youth Group is a community based group composed of mixed genders of various ages. The group was formed by members of the local community with the objectives of initiating, promoting and enhancing development from various social-economic dimensions in the region. Traditionally Borana naming ceremony is one of the most important cultural ceremonies practise till to date. The ceremony was organised by Bakalcha Youth Group from Butiye, Moyale Subcounty.
