I have a friend who waited seven years for a car. He placed his order in 2019, and it was put on the production line twice, which he voluntarily gave up both times—he originally ordered a 992.1 GT3, but switched orders at the last minute because he couldn't let go of his most desired manual transmission; he finally got a Touring allocation, but always felt that this hard-won dream car was missing something from its most perfect form. Until he heard about Porsche's Paint to Sample program, even though the allocation was rarer than a Japanese-made compressor, and the chances of being selected were slim, he decided to continue waiting… In those seven years, he bought more than one car, but that 911 that hadn't arrived yet always held a place in his heart, irreplaceable. I know many 911 enthusiasts, but this friend made me understand something again: some people buy cars to own, some people buy cars to complete a dream. The former are happy as long as the configuration is right, no matter the color; the latter will wait another three years to fulfill their dream. What about you?
