How to Change Rear Pinion Seal in MOST Ford Vehicles 1983-2011

My rear differential pinion seal began to leak about 1 year ago after the truck was sitting for a long time. It wasn’t bad, just seeped out real slow. Once the seal began to drip when parked, I figured I would change it out. This is an easy task, but you will need a few tools to get it done right: Center punch Large hammer 12-pt 12mm socket and ratchet (preferably 1/2 drive) Blue or red loctite 400-600 grit sandpaper Seal puller Wheel chocks Gear oil Jack and jack stands Oil catch can Rags This procedure isn’t the correct way by the Ford manual, but it will get the job done! Be safe and use those wheel chocks!
