Rebirth just won the Kennerspiel des Jahres 2026, and deservedly so. Reiner Knizia's new game has his classic formula: rules you learn in seconds, but decisions that get increasingly difficult with each piece placed on the board. The theme is far from obvious: instead of just another dark survival game, here you rebuild a world after its collapse, and the atmosphere is surprisingly hopeful. With a double-sided board (Scotland and Ireland) and a very beautiful visual style, it's one of those games that looks simple on the box and grows immensely on the table.
