Elisabeth Sussman / The Curator and the Archive (Eva Hesse)
In this installment of our Allen After Hours lecture series, Elisabeth Sussman, Curator and Sondra Gilman Curator of Photography, Whitney Museum of American Art, presented a talk exploring how archives are utilized in research. The lecture explored how the Eva Hesse Archive of more than 1,300 items housed at the Allen Memorial Art Museum helped Sussman to understand the artist and her work and how the primary “evidence” of archives guides curators as they craft exhibitions. This event was recorded on March 10, 2022 as part of the Allen After Hours series.
