FAA | Monocular Vision | SODA | PPL | Statement of Demonstrated Ability | Medical Flight Test
This is an overview of how I obtained my Statement of Demonstrated Ability (SODA). A SODA is a document needed in some cases when a flight medical has been deferred or denied usually due to a deficit of the senses or ability to manipulate the flight controls. This could include monocular vision, color blindness, hearing deficits, or limb use deficits. Note that this is case specific and may not apply to other types of medical deferments. Form that must be filled out by optometrist or ophthalmologist. https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/m... Link that describes what will be evaluated on a medical flight test for candidates with monocular vision. It also describes the process for other issues such as color blindness, hearing deficits, etc. https://drs.faa.gov/browse/excelExter...
