Flüeli-Ranft Obwalden Switzerland 4K Travel Video

Flüeli-Ranft is a well-known and beautiful place of pilgrimage in Switzerland and is located in the canton of Obwalden. The national saint Niklaus von Flüe, also known as Brother Klaus, was born here and later lived as a hermit in the Ranft Gorge. The centre of Flüeli Ranft is the rocky chapel hill with the chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo. Below the chapel hill, the old rural settlement with the saint's birthplace and home spreads out. A highlight is the imposing Hotel Paxmontana, built in Art Nouveau style, which offers a fantastic view of Lake Sarnen and the surrounding mountains. Behind Flüeli Ranft lies the deep Ranft Gorge. In 1468, the upper Ranft Chapel was built here next to Brother Klaus' hermitage. When it became too small for the mass of pilgrims, the lower Rantf chapel was built.
