Viaje a Marte: La Lista Negra de Problemas (Ida, Estancia y Vuelta)
Traveling to Mars represents a challenging endeavor, with every aspect marked by risks and advanced technological requirements. One of the first challenges is trip planning, as it depends on specific launch windows that occur every 26 months due to the alignment between Earth and Mars. This saves energy on journeys, which generally last about three years, including six months on the way there, a 300-day stay on Mars, and another six months on the way back. Although faster missions are feasible, they require more advanced propulsion technologies and higher energy consumption. Microgravity and prolonged radiation exposure during travel severely affect astronauts' health. The effects include loss of bone and muscle density, changes in the cardiovascular system, a weakened immune system, and a significantly increased risk of cancer and cognitive problems. Furthermore, isolation and confinement in confined spaces create significant psychological challenges, such as stress and anxiety. Landing on Mars also entails complex challenges. The thin atmosphere requires advanced braking systems and retrorockets to ensure a controlled descent. Once on the surface, astronauts must contend with extreme temperatures, dust storms, and high radiation exposure. Using local resources, such as frozen water and Martian regolith, will be critical to ensuring prolonged self-sufficiency. Finally, the return to Earth presents a new set of obstacles. From takeoff from Mars to re-entry into Earth's atmosphere, every step involves meticulous planning. The return journey also prolongs exposure to microgravity and radiation, further affecting astronauts' health. Upon returning, space pioneers face technical and physical challenges that test their endurance to the very end. CREDITS: NASA
