Overlooking Rome, Villa Lante on the Janiculum Hill is one of the best-preserved 16th-century Roman villas. Built between 1518 and 1525, it was commissioned by Baldassarre Turini, an important papal official, datary, and secretary to Popes Leo X and Clement VII.
