NIT Kurukshetra PhD Admission 2026-27 (Odd Semester) notification has been released by the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, Haryana for admission to its Ph.D. Programme for the Academic Year 2026-27. In this video, we discuss complete details including eligibility criteria, application dates, admission process, written test, interview, seat matrix, application fee, and important instructions for Full-Time and Part-Time PhD aspirants. The online application process starts from 15 April 2026 and the last date to submit the online application is 10 June 2026 up to 5:00 PM. The tentative written test and interview schedule is from 23 June 2026 to 24 June 2026. The list of eligible candidates after scrutiny will be displayed on 16 June 2026. Admission letters are expected to be issued on 30 June 2026, and selected candidates can join the PhD programme from 01 July 2026 to 15 July 2026. Eligibility for admission includes a Master's Degree in Engineering, Technology, Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, or Management with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale or 55% aggregate marks. Candidates must also possess a full-time Bachelor's Degree with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 or 60% marks. Alternatively, candidates with a Full-Time Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology with at least 75% marks or 8.0 CGPA are also eligible. SC/ST/PwD candidates are entitled to relaxation as per institute rules. Final-year Master's students may also apply, subject to submission of results by 31 October 2026. Part-Time PhD admissions are available for regular employees of R&D organizations, industries, government organizations, educational institutions, NIT Kurukshetra employees, and eligible faculty members of private institutions. Such applicants must have a minimum of one year of experience and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer. The admission process consists of application scrutiny, written test, research presentation, and interview. The written test includes Paper-I (Analytical Skills, Reasoning & Aptitude) carrying 30 marks and Paper-II (Research Area/Specialization) carrying 40 marks. Candidates exempted from the written test must still appear for presentation and interview before the Departmental Research Committee (DRC). Candidates holding GATE qualification (any passing year), valid NET-LS, JRF from UGC/CSIR, eligible fellowship holders, certain industry professionals, and NIT Kurukshetra employees may be exempted from the written entrance test subject to fulfillment of other eligibility conditions. The institute has announced 80 regular PhD seats distributed across various categories. Seat distribution includes GEN – 30, GEN-PwD – 2, EWS – 8, OBC-NCL – 21, OBC-PwD – 1, SC – 11, SC-PwD – 1, ST – 6, with reservations applicable as per Government of India norms. Additional seats under Part-Time PhD, project fellowships, self-financed categories, institute fellowships, and external fellowships may also be available subject to supervisor availability. The application fee is ₹1,000 per department for OC/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL candidates and ₹500 per department for SC/ST/PwD candidates. The fee must be paid through SBI i-Collect mode on or before 10 June 2026. Applicants can apply online through the official Google Form. Candidates are advised to fill in CGPA/marks exactly as awarded by their university, upload all required documents, and regularly visit the institute website for updates regarding shortlisting, written tests, interviews, and final results.
