Triunfo opositor en Colombia refleja rechazo al gobierno de Gustavo Petro: Luis Carlos Vélez

Univision's NMAS journalist, Luis Carlos Vélez, stated that the opposition's victory in Colombia is primarily due to an anti-establishment vote, not an ideological division within society. In an interview, he argued that interpreting Colombia as divided is incomplete, as he believes the result reflects the rejection by a significant portion of the population of the political project led by President Gustavo Petro. Vélez also rejected claims of alleged U.S. interference in the electoral process. He asserted that Washington's participation was virtually nonexistent and deemed any attempt to influence the elections through political messaging insufficient. He even maintained that a stronger intervention against operatives accused of vote-buying would have had a greater impact than any public pronouncements. Finally, he noted that Colombia maintains a political trend that has been repeated over the last few decades: choosing options that challenge traditional power structures.
