A Journey Through the Wild Heart of Central Asia: KYRGYZSTAN's Landscapes

Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked country in Central Asia, often called the “Switzerland of Central Asia” for its dramatic mountain scenery. About 90% of the country is covered by mountains, most notably the Tien Shan range, with peaks over 7,000 meters. Between these towering ranges lie vast valleys, alpine meadows, and crystal-clear lakes. The most famous lake is Issyk-Kul, the world’s second-largest alpine lake, which never freezes despite its high altitude. The landscape is incredibly diverse: from red rock canyons and rolling grasslands to lush forests and high-altitude glaciers. Because of this untouched beauty, Kyrgyzstan is a paradise for hiking, trekking, and horseback adventures, with a rich nomadic heritage still tied closely to the land.
