Padam – Netranthi Nerathile | Bharatanatyam | Huseni Ragam | Roobaka Thalam
Padam is one of the most expressive and emotionally rich segments of the Bharatanatyam repertoire, where the beauty of abhinaya takes center stage. Through delicate expressions, graceful movements, and meaningful lyrics, the dancer brings the emotions of the Nayika to life. "Netranthi Nerathile", composed by Subburama Iyer in Huseni Ragam and Roobaka Thalam, portrays the anguish of the Vipralabdha Nayika—the heroine who is left heartbroken when her beloved fails to keep his promise of meeting her the previous night. Her disappointment, longing, and silent hope are expressed through subtle facial expressions and expressive storytelling. This performance is choreographed by Acharya Smt. S. Menaga, reflecting the timeless beauty of Bharatanatyam and the profound emotions embedded in classical literature.
