This beautiful Sephardic song tells the story of three sisters: two married, while the youngest brings shame to her family. Her father hides her away in a distant land, building high castle walls and windows so that no man can reach her. Then, there exist in the tradition various endings of the story - some happy, some not so happy. Known as a romance sefardí, this ballad belongs to the oral tradition of the Sephardic (Judeo-Spanish) Jews who carried their songs across the Mediterranean after the expulsion from Spain in 1492.
