With this video, Australian comics artist Stuart McMillen recommends his essential books for comics creators and cartoonists. McMillen reviews these books from his personal experience as a cartoonist and comics artist. He chooses the books that best explain storytelling with comics, as well as panel arrangement, character design, and how to use art supplies to create evocative artwork. This video highly recommends two books by Scott McCloud: “Understanding Comics”, and “Making Comics”. It also recommends “Drawing Words & Writing Pictures” as well as “Mastering Comics” by Jessica Abel & Matt Madden.
