On March 27, 2023, the Nanakuma Line was extended from Tenjin-Minami Station to Hakata Station. As a result, the transfer station between the Airport Line and Hakozaki Line changed from Tenjin Station and Tenjin-Minami Station to Hakata Station. A poster announcing the extension features the slogan, "One train to Hakata. One train from Hakata," evoking excitement along the line. During the extension work, a massive road collapse, one of the most significant in Japanese civil engineering history, occurred near the Hakata Ekimae 2-Chome intersection in November 2016. With no casualties and recovery time of just one week, it attracted attention both domestically and internationally. Following the accident, the opening date was postponed from 2020 to 2023, and the line is now finally operational. The station is an underground station with one platform and two tracks for the Nanakuma Line and one platform and two tracks for the Airport Line. The Nanakuma Line platform is located on the fifth basement floor, while the Airport Line platform is located on the third basement floor. The two platforms are connected by a walkway with escalators and a moving walkway. Detailed announcements are installed at this station. The arrival announcement includes transfer information for the Airport Line, as well as information about the stopping time of the arriving train. From what I've observed, if the train is turning around within seven minutes, they say "The train will stop for approximately ... minutes," and if it's longer, they say "The train will stop for a while."
