The Nanakuma Line was extended from Tenjin-Minami Station to Hakata Station on March 27, 2023. As a result, the transfer station for the Airport Line and Hakozaki Line changed from Tenjin Station/Tenjin-Minami Station to Hakata Station. The poster announcing the extension's opening features the catchy slogan, "One train to Hakata. One train from Hakata," reflecting the excitement along the line. During the extension construction, a major road collapse accident occurred near the Hakata Station 2-chome intersection in November 2016, a significant event in Japanese civil engineering history. The accident, which resulted in no fatalities and was repaired in one week, attracted attention both domestically and internationally. Following the accident, the opening date was pushed back from 2020 to 2023. The station structure is an underground station with one platform and two tracks for the Nanakuma Line and one platform and two tracks for the Airport Line. The Nanakuma Line platform is on the 5th basement level, and the Airport Line platform is on the 3rd basement level. The two platforms are connected by a connecting passage equipped with escalators and moving walkways. Detailed announcements have been introduced at this station. The arrival announcement includes transfer information for the Airport Line, as well as information on the train's stopping time. From what I observed, if the train was turning around within 7 minutes, they would say "The train will stop for approximately ~ minutes," and if it was longer, they would say "The train will stop for a while."
