39 Perennials that Flower in September | Cottage Garden Tour

It's September 2023 and time for another garden tour of what's growing here in our garden in Fredericia, Denmark (zone 8a). We've had a lot of rain and wind these past several days... but despite the weather (and the autumn weather coming in), we've still got a lot of perennials in flower. From one solo Foxglove to Painted Sage still showing out with pinks and blues, there's plenty of color and texture to finish the season off with a bang. And we've got a brand new garden toy (a tool, actually) that helps us keep weeds out of our gravel path — a weed burner. Stick around to watch that in action and see just how quickly it burns weeds. Here are some of the perennials and garden plants that we'll show on this tour of the garden: 0:46 Rudbeckia hirta (Black-Eyed Susan) 0:53 Salvia viridis (Annual Clary Sage / Painted Sage) 1:09 Delphinium (Delphinium / Larkspur – blue variety) 2:18 Dahlia (Dahlia) 3:42 Setaria italica ‘Red Jewel’ (Red Foxtail Millet) 4:38 Sanguisorba (Burnet) 5:23 Gaillardia (Blanket Flower) 6:29 Buddleja Butterfly Candy (Butterfly Bush) 7:15 Sedum (Stonecrop) 7:55 Delphinium seeds (Larkspur seeds) 8:30 Thalictrum delavayi (Chinese Meadow Rue) 9:15 Eupatorium rugosum ‘Chocolate’ (Chocolate Snakeroot / White Snakeroot) 9:46 Rudbeckia hirta (Black-Eyed Susan) 10:22 Brunnera macrophylla ‘Jack Frost’ (Siberian Bugloss ‘Jack Frost’) 10:44 Polemonium (Jacob’s Ladder) 10:53 Astrantia (Masterwort) 11:56 Liatris seeds (Blazing Star / Gayfeather) 12:13 Cola plant (Artemisia abrotanum ‘Cola Plant’) 12:34 Echinacea (Coneflower) 12:45 Crocosmia (Montbretia) 13:01 Phlomis (Jerusalem Sage) 13:42 Sedum (Stonecrop) 14:04 Aquilegia seeds (Columbine) 14:14 Helenium (Sneezeweed) 14:26 Anemone hupehensis (Japanese Anemone) 15:15 Chelone (Turtlehead) 15:34 Verbena bonariensis (Tall Verbena / Argentine Verbena) 16:52 Salvia (Ornamental Sage) 17:08 one lonely Digitalis (Foxglove) 17:32 Verbena officinalis ‘Bampton’ (Bampton Vervain) 18:35 Helianthus (Perennial Sunflower) 18:58 Kniphofia (Red Hot Poker / Torch Lily) 19:28 Verbena hastata (Blue Vervain) 19:41 Centranthus ruber (Red Valerian / Jupiter’s Beard) 20:25 Malva sylvestris (Common Mallow) 20:43 Agastache (Hyssop / Hummingbird Mint) 21:38 Heliopsis (False Sunflower) 22:06 Tricyrtis (Toad Lily) 22:48 Houttuynia cordata ‘Chameleon’ (Chameleon Plant) 23:58 Using Persicaria affinis (Himalayan Knotweed) as ground cover 25:42 How to take seeds of Anemone hupehensis (Japanese Anemone) 28:08 Our new garden tool — Weed Burner If you have any questions about what you see growing or suggestions for what you'd like to see in future videos, please let us know in the comments below.
