Roman Legion Carving Found in Ancient Subterranean Chamber
The subterranean chamber, or souterrain, is near the village of Crichton in Midlothian, Scotland. It boasts some marvellously carved Roman stones and a unique Roman carving relating to Legio II Augusta, a Roman legion that came north with Emperor Septimus Severus. The carving is of the winged horse Pegasus, used in the legion’s emblem.
