Jesus Restores Peter and the Final Words of the Gospel   / bibleaudiokjv   The Gospel of John is the fourth book of the New Testament and one of the four Gospels, offering a deeply theological and spiritual account of Jesus Christ’s life, ministry, death, and resurrection. Traditionally attributed to John the Apostle, one of Jesus’ closest disciples, it was likely written between AD 85–95, making it the last of the four Gospels. Unlike the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke), which focus on Jesus’ parables, miracles, and teachings about the Kingdom of God, John presents Jesus as the eternal Word of God, the Son of God, and the Savior of the world. The Gospel opens with the famous Prologue, which begins with the powerful statement, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” This introduction establishes Jesus as the preexistent divine Word, through whom all things were created. It emphasizes that Jesus is not merely a prophet or teacher but God in human form, as declared in, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” This sets the tone for the rest of the Gospel, highlighting Jesus' divine nature and mission. John then moves into Jesus’ public ministry, which focuses on seven key miracles, or signs, revealing His divine power and identity. These include turning water into wine at Cana, healing the official’s son, healing a paralyzed man, feeding the 5,000, walking on water, healing a man born blind, and raising Lazarus from the dead. Each of these miracles demonstrates Jesus’ authority over creation, sickness, and even death, leading many to believe in Him. John also includes Jesus’ famous “I AM” statements, where He declares, “I am the Bread of Life,” “I am the Light of the World,” “I am the Good Shepherd,” “I am the Resurrection and the Life,” and “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life,” further revealing His divine nature and mission. As the Gospel progresses, it focuses on Jesus’ final teachings and His path to the cross. Unlike the other Gospels, John provides a detailed account of Jesus' Last Supper, where He washes the disciples’ feet, teaching them about humility and love. He then gives His longest recorded discourse, preparing His followers for His departure and promising the coming of the Holy Spirit. In His High Priestly Prayer, Jesus prays for His disciples and all future believers. The narrative then moves to Jesus’ arrest, trial, and crucifixion, with Pilate famously asking, “What is truth?” before sentencing Jesus to death. John emphasizes that Jesus willingly lays down His life, portraying Him as the true Passover Lamb whose sacrifice brings salvation. The Gospel reaches its climax with Jesus’ resurrection and post-resurrection appearances. Mary Magdalene is the first to witness the empty tomb, followed by the disciples, including Thomas, who initially doubts until Jesus invites him to touch His wounds, leading to his declaration, “My Lord and my God!” In the final chapter, Jesus appears to His disciples by the Sea of Galilee, restores Peter after his denial, and commissions him to “feed my sheep,” reaffirming his role as a leader in the early church. #bible #audiobible #kjv #jesus #holybible © 2025.
