Jackie Trent - You Came A Long Way From St. Louis (Rare Live Broadcast - May 1966) New To YouTube

There's not much footage of Jackie Trent that survives from the 1960's so I'm pleased to upload this rare video of a live broadcast from May 1966 of Jackie singing "You Came A Long Way From St. Louis". The song was recorded the previous year and can be found on the album 'The Magic Of Jackie Trent' The live performance is wonderful and shows just how good a vocalist Jackie Trent was. I have enhanced the audio that brings out the backing band to a new level. Jackie is introduced by no other than the late Eamonn Andrews. Yvonne Ann Gregory (Yvonne Ann Burgess; 6th September 1940 – 21st March 2015), was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme and known professionally as Jackie Trent, she was an English singer-songwriter and actress and was best known for co-writing (with Tony Hatch) several hits for Petula Clark in the 1960s and the theme tune to the Australian soap opera Neighbours in 1985. Her first single was "Pick Up the Pieces", it was released in 1962 on the Oriole label, but it was not until Pye Records and three years later that she scored her first hit with "Where Are You Now", written by Tony Hatch and Jackie Trent, who at that time were involved in a successful professional collaboration with Petula Clark. The song was featured in the popular TV series It's Dark Outside. "Where Are You Now" reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in May 1965, the video for that song can be found right here at The Square Disc. Trent married Colin Gregory in November 2005. She died in hospital on the 21st of March 2015, aged 74, in Menorca, Spain, after a long illness. Hope you'll all enjoy this wonderful performance by the wonderful Jackie Trent. Thank you
