The problem of insecurity in Zacatecas is serious and worrisome, according to Senator José Narro Céspedes, who pointed out that the municipality of Fresnillo is a hotspot. The senator from the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) party said that the entire state of Zacatecas is facing security challenges. However, he noted that certain areas are considered "hotspots," such as the municipalities of Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Guadalupe, and Calera, which are experiencing a similar situation regarding violence. Narro Céspedes acknowledged that the public's perception of insecurity has increased. Nevertheless, he stated that in numerical terms, insecurity has decreased, as the rate of intentional homicides has fallen. He declared that the recent acts of violence on Zacatecas' highways were more of a "propaganda" stunt by organized crime, aimed at politically impacting the state and deepening the feeling among Zacatecans "that there is a lot of insecurity and that the peace and tranquility of our state has been shattered," in addition to generating a climate of fear, worry, and anxiety. "I think they have succeeded in that; they managed to create the perception that Zacatecas is in chaos. Today, tourism and travel to Zacatecas have practically ground to a halt, and the economy has suffered as a result of these events." The senator from Zacatecas said that, as a result of the violence, many families have decided to move to other states to provide a better quality of life for their families and escape the constant fear that all the state's inhabitants experience. He reiterated that it is crucial to take action to eradicate this problem.
