After stumbling upon the American Duchess for Simplicity (8162) pattern at the Joanne Fabrics $1.99 pattern sale, I’ve decided to make a full 18th-century ensemble staring with me undies. Follow along as I construct a shift from a $5 thrift store bedsheet and sheer determination. Next up on my historbounding to-do list is sewing the accompanying American Duchess for Simplicity gown and petticoat from pattern 8161. And eventually, once I get the courage the stays/corset from the 8162 pattern.
