Very Neat & Very Nice! Modded Otis Traction Elevators at The Motif Hotel in Seattle, WA

Filmed on January 3rd, 2023 with ‎@WestCoastElevators . Even though these elevators were modded, they still had quite a bit of character! Located at the former Red Lion Hotel, this building was built in 1973 as an Office Building but converted into a Hotel in 1996, and about a decade ago, this property was pretty heavily renovated and renamed the "Motif" Hotel, and was later flagged as being a Hyatt property, and since this video was shot, it has become a Hilton. These elevators were modded when the building became a Hotel in 1996, presumably by Dover as one of the elevators has a Dover buzz floor passing chime (that car was out of service) and Controller wise these kind of behave like Dover. And much more recently, the cab interiors were COMPLETELY Overhauled! Despite this though, much original 70s Otis character remains on these from the VERY THIN European style door tracks, Mechanical Bells, Unique Doors, and even the indicator assembly remains original (although I believe the actual indicator is replaced). And even though the controller on these was definitely replaced, these still run like Old Otises and classic level too! The indicators on these are quite glitchy, and don't all get the floors right, but that definitely adds to the character of these elevators, and these are definitely a perfect example of where I say "Forget the fixtures, this is still an awesome elevator!" Between the GORGEOUS Cabs and the way these elevators ride as well as their quirks, these are still a TON of fun! Unfortunately, I fear the clock is ticking for these elevators as the Parking Elevator recently got modded a 2nd time with Otis Series M2 and I'd suspect the same fate will occur with the Main Elevators within the next couple years. We will see what happens. That being said, as they currently stand though, enjoy some rides on these Gorgeous, Unique, Charming and Very Quirky Elevators! Installed in 1973. (Otis VIP 260 with Circle or Square Touch/Heat Sensitive buttons) Modernized in 1996. (Dover? with Innovation Universal fixtures, New Cabs and New Controllers. Lanterns, Doors, Door Tracks, Motors, Bells and Indicators left as is.) Cabs Redone & Parking Elevator Modernized by Otis with Series M2 in Circa 2020-2021.
