Treatment options in Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathies (IIMs)

Short description The webinar aims at illustrating the updated therapies for the treatment of Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathies (IIMs). In particular, the following topics will be presented: Introduction to treatment of inflammatory myopathies How to assess improvement? The patient's case will be used to discuss treatment options and the advantages and disadvantages of different approaches. Results of recent clinical trials, including small series, will be discussed Finally, clinical trials that are ongoing in IIM will be briefly mentioned. The Guest Speaker will be Prof. Jiri Vencovsky, Professor of Medicine, Institute of Rheumatology, Prague, Czech Republic. Jiri Vencovsky, MD, DSc, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague in 1980. While working at the Institute of Rheumatology in Prague, he specialized in internal medicine, rheumatology and medical immunology. He has been a full professor of medicine since 2002. He is interested in inflammatory idiopathic myopathies, autoantibodies in rheumatic diseases and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The Moderator will be Prof. Louise Diederichsen, Clinical Associate Professor of Rheumatology at University of Copenhagen, Hospital Rigshospitalet.
