What was the Ark of the Holy Covenant and where could it be? The mythical Ark of the Holy Covenant was built according to the specifications given by God in the Book of Exodus, chapter 25, verses 10 to 22, which indicated that it should be: one meter and twenty-five centimeters long, seventy-five centimeters wide, and seventy-five centimeters high, overlaid with gold inside and out, with four rings at the ends that were to be pierced by two acacia poles—also overlaid with gold—for transport, and with two cherubim facing each other on the mercy seat at the top. During the 40 years of the Israelite exodus through the desert, this device acted as a protector, guide, provider, and channel of communication between God and Moses. It dispensed the manna that fed the Jewish people, it was their spearhead against their enemies, and through it, God issued various instructions that the Israelites were to observe and heed at all times. Upon reaching the Promised Land, it was stored in different places. Years later, King David had it placed in the tabernacle, and then Solomon relocated it to the Most Holy Place, the most sacred and secure place in the Temple. Little by little, its traces disappeared, it fell into oblivion, and became a myth. Since then, the whereabouts of the Ark of the Holy Covenant have remained a mystery, and although it has been sought in many places, no trace of it exists, except for the version supported by an ancient Coptic document called the Kebra Negest, which states that the Ark of the Holy Covenant, given by Solomon to his son Menelik (King of Ethiopia, born from his relationship with Makeda, the mythical Queen of Sheba), was taken by him to his country and remains there in a temple in the town of Axum, Ethiopia.
