Mega Pressure | iRacing Porsche Cup at Bathurst Mount Panorama

Another trip to the Mountain in the Porsche Cup, and this one was shaping up to be a tough one. This was the second of two Porsche Cup races I ran that evening. Bathurst is always a demanding circuit, and while I had some hope going into the race, my preparation had not been ideal. I had done some practice on Sunday, but I found it hard to stay focused and never managed to match my previous best lap times. I was still getting close to what I had run in past races here, so I felt like I might be in the ballpark. I was car number 10 in the field, but unfortunately qualifying didn’t go well. I made a mistake on my second lap and ended up starting in 15th. I might have gained a spot or two if I had nailed the lap, but it probably wouldn’t have made a huge difference. Then, once the race started, I got boxed in during the opening corners and was forced into less-than-ideal lines through turns one to five. As a result, I lost several positions right off the bat. At a place like Bathurst, losing ground early can be incredibly frustrating. Making up spots is hard enough when everything goes right, and once you’re buried in the pack, even holding position can be a real fight. This race quickly became a test of focus and patience. Rather than chasing down a big result, I had to reset my mindset and just look for opportunities, stay clean, and keep the car out of the wall. So now the question is, with a rough start behind me and a lot of work ahead, can I recover and claw my way forward? Or is this one going to stay a mountain too steep to climb?
