The Flag of the Indian

Dedicated to all my American Indian brothers and sisters. I admire your truthful, balanced and uncomplicated way of looking at the world and your respect for our Mother the Earth. I fly your flag. May our paths meet in peace on the Red road. The photos in this video were taken by my wife at a Sacred Springs pow wow in San Marcos, TX. “Friend, to you I pass the pipe first. Around the circle I pass it to you, around this circle to begin the day. Around the circle to complete the hoop, the hoop of the four directions. I lift up the pipe to the spirit. I smoke with the Great Mystery. It is good.” (Leonard Crow Dog, 1942-2021, Sicangu Lakota medicine man from the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota) “The Flag of the Indian” (by Mark Gottschall, June 2026, on the 150th anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn) Oh, the Flag of the Indian, the Flag of the Indian, Is the best Flag of all, the Flag of the Indian. There are many other flags; there are many other people. They are all good flags; they are all good people. But the best flag of all, is the Flag of the Indian, The Flag of the Indian is the best flag of all, The Flag of the Indian. Oh, the Road of the Indian, the Road of the Indian, Is the best Road of all, the Road of the Indian. There are many other roads; there are many other pathways. They are all good roads; they are all good pathways. But the best road of all, is the Road of the Indian, The Road of the Indian is the best road of all, The Road of the Indian. Oh, the Smoke of the Indian, the Smoke of the Indian, Is the best Smoke of all, the Smoke of the Indian. There are many other smokes; there are many other lodges. They are all good smokes; they are all good lodges. But the best smoke of all, is the Smoke of the Indian, The Smoke of the Indian is the best smoke of all, The Smoke of the Indian. Oh, the Heart of the Indian, the Heart of the Indian, Is the best Heart of all, the Heart of the Indian. There are many other hearts; there are many other campfires. They are all good hearts; they are all good campfires. But the best heart of all, is the Heart of the Indian, The Heart of the Indian, is the best heart of all, The Heart of the Indian. Oh, the Song of the Indian, the Song of the Indian, Is the best Song of all, the Song of the Indian. There are many other songs; there are many other dances. They are all good songs; they are all good dances. But the best song of all, is the Song of the Indian, The Song of the Indian, is the best song of all, The Song of the Indian. Oh, the Flag of the Indian, the Flag of the Indian, Is the best Flag of all, the Flag of the Indian... the Flag of the Indian is the best Flag of all.
