Harmony - First Impressions - Good Job on Story, Balance, Skills, Boss Fights - RPG Maker MV

How's it going everyone, in this RPG Maker MV First Impressions video we take a look at Harmony by Skyforger007. This is an interesting little game put together in a short period of time for the MV Game Jam event. To me this game had a Final Fantasy X vibe. Not in the combat system, but in the story-line and music selection, it's very FFX. It has some flaws which I'll talk about in a bit but I want to just say good job with the balancing on the fights. There isn't any flashy action sequencing and most of the animations are default, but some of theme have had the hue slider adjusted which achieved the desired effect of making them look slightly different. A great trick that I wish other games would use. It literally takes a few seconds to change the color of the animations and will make it stand out just a little bit. The best part of this whole game was the outside map of the ruined tower, which was beautifully mapped. Whoever did that map, great job and I wish more games would add stuff like that. The game did feel a bit easy with a huge amount of consumable items given for free. Giving them was a good idea but perhaps too many we're given. Not a huge deal tho, because for what it is, you want the player to be able to beat the game, even if they make a few mistakes. So this game is forgiving, and for a 30 minute game it's often better to go a little on the easy side than the hard side. For a longer more in depth game you can up the difficulty of the game. The small amount of items made for the game like weapons and armor was a nice touch, when you find powerful upgrades like the Shadow's Bane it felt really good to get that upgrade. Let's talk about the story. It was great if you were making a 3 to 5 hour story-line, but for a small 20 to 30 minute game you might want to keep it a little more light hearted. It's hard for the player to get attached to the characters in the story in such a small amount of time. I hope you continue to work on your projects you've shown great potential. Thank you for sending me this game Skyforger007. Great job! :) If you've enjoyed this video please consider giving it a Like, Favorite and share.
