So you grew a garden.. now what?? Ep. 1 All about herbs

I am all about preserving the summer harvest to use year round. Here are four easy ways you can save and store your herbs! 1. Dehydrating- probably the most easy way to preserve your herbs. I have a dehydrator, but this can also be done in the oven on a low temp or dried using the air, as long as it is done in a dry dark place. 2. Rosemary salt- standard ratio is 1 part herbs to 3 parts salt. Use a single herb or create your own combo! Make sure to dry it completely before storing using the above methods. 3. Herb pucks- keep herbs tasting fresh and have them ready to use by pulsing with in a blender or food processor with a little bit of oil. Freeze into a puck shape like I did or use an ice cube tray. Once frozen store in a freezer bag. 4. Compound butter- I did a garlic and herb version, but the possibilities are endless. Create your own flavor combinations to use when cooking proteins, vegetables, garlic bread and so much more! If you plan to use it right away, pop it into an airtight container in the fridge, or throw it into the freezer for later. BONUS- save all your scraps and stems in a baggie in the freezer for your next batch of broth or stock. The stems are loaded with so much flavor and doing this reduces food waste win-win!
