KRIJG WAT JE WIL (Eenheid 3/5)
SyncID: MB01CJUFDORLHSA https://tibor.nl/specops Dying is sad. But living meaninglessly is truly miserable. "Are you afraid of death?" is a popular question. Most people are more afraid of life. Some people find themselves in situations where it takes more courage to stay alive than to leave. And that is the definition of courage: Being terrified. And doing it anyway. The opposite of being brave is not being cowardly. The opposite of being brave is conforming. Conforming to the norm. Giving up. So that you fit in. Being afraid of standing out. Afraid of life. Blind to death. Which prevents you from seeing your life. So be afraid of death. So that you can see your life. So that you can see what matters to you. If you're over 30, you're already physically on the descent toward death. You can slow down the process considerably. But the process remains a physical descent. By constantly reminding yourself of your death, you can get much more out of life. A question you can ask yourself regularly: "If I knew I had exactly 3 years left to live, would I arrange today differently?" 3 years is a good timeframe for this question. Too short to make huge plans. Too long to just turn it into a big party mess. Look at your calendar for today. Look at your relationships. If you knew you only had three years left, what would you change? Change that. A second exercise I want to give you is this: Every night when you get into bed, ask yourself this question: "Is tonight a good night for me to die?" If you did what you had to do that day, said what you thought, and shared what you felt, then it's okay to die that night. Of course, it's a shame when it happens; you would have preferred a few more days. But it would be good. No regrets. And when you wake up in the morning... Only get out of bed when you've fully realized what a fucking joy it is that you get to live another day. Only when you feel that gratitude will you get out of bed. And resolve to yourself: I'm going to live today in such a way that tonight would be a good night for my death.
