History and Archaeology visits the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Pomegranate and Saint James the Apostle, located in the Plaza de España in Llerena, Badajoz. It is a historic building with a blend of artistic styles, including Mudéjar, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo. Its history dates back to an apparition of the Virgin Mary to a friar of the Order of Santiago in 1241, holding a pomegranate. This event led to the construction of a small hermitage that later became the present-day church. The long construction process of the church lasted from the beginning of the 14th century until the 18th century. The Canonical Coronation of Our Lady of the Pomegranate of Llerena took place on August 15, 1966, in the Plaza de España.
