Homily of Father José Augusto, July 22, 2026 Gospel (John 20:1-2, 11-18) Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia. Tell us, O Mary, what did you see on your way? I saw the risen Christ, the abandoned tomb! Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John. Glory to you, Lord. 1 On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb of Jesus, very early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. 2 So she ran and went to find Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 11 Mary stood outside the tomb, weeping. As she wept, she bent over and looked into the tomb. 12 Then she saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the feet. 13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” She answered, “They have taken my Lord away, and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. 15 He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). 17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18 Then Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord!” and she told them what Jesus had said to her. — The Gospel of the Lord. — Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. 👉Receive Father José Augusto's homilies in text format.
