Fun Piano Speed Building | Presto from Pescetti

I came across this charing little Presto (the Third Movement from Pescetti's Sonata No 6 in C minor) in issue 129 of Pianist Magazine (I have a digital subscription). I later also discovered that it is on the ABRSM Grade 4 Syllabus. As speed is something that has always been a challenge for me, I'm always looking out for lively little pieces to learn and this one really fits the bill. This tutorial gives some ideas of how we can go about practising this where simply gradually increasing the speed with a metronome doesn't get us to the target tempo we desire. I also go over some considerations in terms of hand position and movement that I have got from numerous sources including Dr Robert Durso (on the Taubman Approach). Naturally, nothing is black and white in these things as the size and shape of our hands matters enormously in terms of what we might need to do. However, I do believe there are a set of reasonable starting points from which we can build out. I created a full set of Practice Notes to go with this tutorial which you can download from this link (in exchange for your email address) : https://mailchi.mp/ccfb156a8103/26oa7...
