SextouComNR – Tudo sobre a NR-26 Sinalização de Segurança.

We've reached the twenty-sixth EPISODE addressing one of our Regulatory Standards. Today, we'll talk a little about NR-26: Safety Signage. Published by Ordinance 3.214/78, it was characterized as a "special standard" by Ordinance 787 of 2018. Since its publication to the present day, it has undergone three amendments: in 1983, 2011, and 2015. Its original wording established the colors to be used in workplaces for the purpose of identifying safety equipment; delimiting areas; identifying pipelines used for conducting liquids and gases; and warnings about risks. This initial text also included provisions relating to the preventive labeling of hazardous and harmful products. 2011 Revision - New Text Ordinance SIT No. 229 of May 24, 2011, profoundly altered the text of the standard. The mandatory use of safety colors in establishments or workplaces was maintained, however, without the level of detail of the previous wording. Regarding this matter, an item requiring compliance with official technical standards was included. Another major change in 2011 was the inclusion of the mandatory classification of chemical products according to the Globally Harmonized System, which we call GHS. In addition, the provision of SDS (Safety Data Sheets) also became mandatory. This sheet must be provided by the manufacturer, or, in the case of imported products, by the supplier in the national market. Inside the standard Currently, NR-26 is a short standard, containing only three pages. The first items discuss safety colors and the need to comply with official technical standards (keep this information in mind, we'll see this in a moment). For the most part, NR-26 addresses issues related to chemical product labeling, providing guidance on the mandatory use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the elements that must be included in preventive labeling. Furthermore, the standard also mandates that workers must have access to the safety data sheets of the chemical products they use in their workplaces and must receive training to understand preventive labeling and SDS. Official Technical Standards We return to this term used by NR-26 to discuss an important standard. NBR 7195 is titled "colors for safety" and should be used in a complementary way to NR-26, as it provides a broad approach regarding the colors that will be used to ensure safety in the workplace. Regarding this NBR, we highlight two points: Specific conditions of the colors: the standard lists the colors adopted by it, citing individually where they should be applied. Table with safety colors and their respective contrast colors, for better visualization of the message to be transmitted. In conclusion Our web series is called "Friday with NR" and we almost never address standards other than regulatory ones, but in this specific case it's almost necessary, since NR-26 and NBR 7195 are practically complementary. But, in general, the NR itself, besides being short, is quite direct. Anyway, if you have any questions related to the safety signage foreseen by NR-26, leave them in the comments and we'll do our best to answer them. Meanwhile, I'm already working on the next episode of our web series #FridayWithNR. A big hug to everyone and FRIDAY!
