Are they antisocial parasites or free spirits who actually enrich our society? Which is the case? To find out, rec. reporter Donat Hofer moves into the shared forest apartment. Reporter Donat doesn't bring much luggage with him when he moves in. Tent, sleeping bag, the camera, of course, and sausages – as gifts for the forest dwellers. Among them are "Chrütli" and Urs, the two of whom immediately introduce the reporter to forest life. This includes where and how to relieve oneself in the great outdoors. Although they live on the fringes of society, clear rules of coexistence apply even here. Chrütli has been living illegally in the forest for 10 years. The trained horse rider was on the verge of burnout when he consciously withdrew from the established system and into the forest, as he tells the reporter. Much to the annoyance of the Waldburgers, on whose land Chrütli and a small group of like-minded people were wild camping. Chrütli served the imposed fines in prison but immediately returned to the forest. To settle the dispute, the city of Bern provided the forest dwellers with a piece of land. Who owns the forest? What does such a way of life mean for our society? What does it give us and what does it take away from us? Donat persistently pursues these questions. When he says goodbye to Chrütli and Urs and emerges from the forest, he has found an answer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 00:00 Intro 00:44 Was Donat too prejudiced?
