What Happened to Freegen? The most amazing thing ever. See Part1 of Motor Magic

This video is a long overdue follow up to the Freegen explanation that we released 2 years ago. Have a watch of this first if you haven't seen it yet:    • Freegen Explained   What's happened in the ensuing years is that this project has expanded from just controlling regen braking through the planet carrier to now running the entire pedal drive through the gears as well. The result is something like a power split device popularized by the Toyota Hybrids, but now it is human legs (rather than a gas engine) running along with the electric motor are both running together in series with the hub, rather than in parallel. This alternative layout provides a number of unique advantages: 1) It eliminates the need for bicycle gearing (pedal at the same cadence regardless of bike speed) 2) It provides for coaster brake style braking with all the energy going into regen 3) It enables back pedaling modes for reversing of trike and quad vehicles 4) It makes the need for a physical torque sensor unnecessary 5) It reduces the BOM cost of a complete ebike (no torque sensor or derailleur/shifters needed) 6) It allows a fully configurable pedal generator / exercise bike when the bike is at rest 7) It can be produced from most off-the-shelf hub motor designs with small modification to the side plate and planet carrier. If you are really into this idea, or the original Freegen concept, we are now taking pre-orders to be first in line to receive either model: https://ebikes.ca/ebike-parts/hub-mot... https://ebikes.ca/ebike-parts/hub-mot...
