1st Place in the UK's Toughest Sportive ! Epic 110KM Route, Stupendous Cycling Event !

The last 3 years, the inspirational team at Band of Climbers have laid on an increasingly well attended Sportive in August. Having taken part, I can see why people keep coming back for more, because this is one of the best routes I have ever cycled and a superb event! It's been meticulously plotted such that you only go up or down, traversing 22 steep climbs over 110km and 3250m of elevation in some of the most beautiful landscapes There is no flat. Not too long and not too short - this is the Goldilock's Sportive - perfect to hit out hard on the climbs. Billed as tougher than the Fred Whitton because it has 65% more climbing per KM, I was aiming for a rapid time - sub 5 hours! The legs and lungs were in great shape - and I surpassed my expectations. But did I place first ? And yes I know a Sportive is not a race !
