And that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the greatness he’s delivered over the years because, up until his retirement in 2006, he was consistently delivering every time he went to work. In fact, there was a very real case to be made that he was the best actor of his generation. Sure, this might seem like a big statement to make. But remember this is the man who also starred in movies like Mississippi Burning, Bonnie and Clyde, and Unforgiven, and who even made memorable one shot TV appearances on occasion. So even if he is now done in terms of acting, never let it be forgotten just how special of a talent Gene Hackman was, and how much he likely still would be if he ever decided to return at some point before all is said and done.
