In recent years, Ford and Peugeot 3-cylinder engines have been the subject of much discussion due to abnormal wear of their oil-bath belts. Among the causes of this problem is a "normal" effect in engines (especially direct-injection turbocharged gasoline engines), but when combined with these types of belts, it causes serious problems. I'm talking about the blow-by effect, or the leakage of combustion vapors through the piston rings.
