The president of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD), Julio Brache, expressed concern about the modifications made to the Solid Waste Law, believing they could lead to a sharp increase in companies' operating costs. He explained that the new provisions would cause significant increases in waste disposal fees, which would directly impact production costs in various economic sectors. In his opinion, these increases would ultimately be reflected in the prices of food, basic necessities, and other consumer goods. Brache also maintained that the initiative was approved without proper discussion and warned that, far from contributing to economic stability, it could become a source of inflationary pressure and increase the cost of living for citizens.
