The PROPHECY Is Fulfilled...

Brunsons T-shirts: https://heat-check-shop.fourthwall.com/ Just look at all these Knicks fans in the arena. This is a game in Texas for Christ sake. And it sounded like MSG at tipoff. But we quickly found out who’s house this is: Wow! Victor Wembanyama says if I’m going down, I’ll go down swinging as he manhandles the Knicks on both ends in the opening minutes. This guy was on a mission, to win this game or die trying. I mean, just look at him all fired up in the tunnel. Maaan I’m a Knicks fan but I love this. Sochan even tried to play little mind games with him, but got a shoulder in his grill. And if you’ve been following the finals, you know exactly who joined him offensively. The guy that’s had a huge impact off the bench. Harper comes out guns blazing in yet another first quarter in this series. He’s been absolutely incredible. And he set the stage for a familiar script to unfold. For the 5th straight game the Spurs have opened up a double digit lead against the Knicks. This is crazy how it keeps happening. And this is exactly how it happened in this one. Oh my goodness. The pitbulls were all over the Knicks at the start. New York could not even look at the basket at times, and that resulted in a catastrophic 4 for 22 from the field in the opening 12 minutes. Maaan, That’s 18%. Three Brunson buckets, and 1 shot from OG. That’s it. The only 2 players that scored those miserable 13 points. So, San Antonio used that to end the quarter in style. Julian Champagnie adds more fuel to the San Antonio fire, and while I was hoping for a reset in the second quarter, unfortunately we got more of the same. Julian picks up right where he left off with another 3 off of the beautiful pump fake and reload. But what followed on the other end, was far more frightening. Are you freaking kidding me?! First Wemby goes god mode with 5 blocks in 9 minutes of being on the court, and then the hounding continues with a god damn 8 second violation. Like, we cannot even get it across half court?! At this point I’m thankful even that the Spurs weren’t really rolling offensively with only 26 to New York’s still miserable 13 points already well into the second quarter. Fortunately tho, this meant that if Brunson goes on one of his mini takeovers, the Knicks would be right back into the game. And wouldn’t you know it… Okay, we’re hanging in there. And the captain got some much needed help at the right time from Mikal Bridges to get it even closer. Bridges matches Brunson’s 8 points in the second period and all of a sudden they’re right back in it. That is despite the fact that San Antonio had the last word of the half. The visitors could live with that, but their life would be difficult in the second half as KAT was dealing with a second straight game of foul trouble. 3 in the first half, took a lot of playing time, and completely took him out of rhythm as he only had 2 points at the break. Please be carefull in the third quarter, this is crucial… Of course, the very first possession my guy picks up his 4th foul and now it’s panic mode. Now in this wild west of a 3rd period, the opening turned into a shootout between Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson on one end… Versus Julian Champagnie for the Spurs, and of course, the guy that’s got his direct matchup on the bench. The Spurs duo would throw a punch, and the Knicks would come right back with a swing of their own. But this is the point where things would come to a halt for New York, while the home team got an additional boost and kept going. That’s 2 points and 2 assists in just 1 minute for the 20 year old rookie Harper. Thing is, he was nowhere near done doing damage. 10 crucial points for Dylan Harper to get the lead back up to 15. And the Spurs have all the momentum. If they can keep this at double digits and win this game, anything is possible in this wild series. The only thing keeping them from exhaling was a random desperation 3 from Hart at the end of the shot clock. And Brunson willing them to points from the free throw line by straight up using the inexperience of the rookie. Jalen had 14 of New York’s 28 points in the period providing a lifeline for his team. So, by the end of it, the Knicks somehow stumbled into a single digit deficit. #newyorkknicks #nbachampions #jalenbrunson
